Opportunities

We are recruiting!

Postdoctoral positions Applicants should have carried out Ph.D. research in biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology or related field. Research projects include crystallographic analysis of nucleic acid-protein complexes, development of enzyme assays for new RNA and DNA modification systems, and structure-based design and development of new antibacterial agents targeting tRNA modification pathways. Biological questions addressed are in the areas of antimicrobials, virology, molecular evolution and origins of life. Please send applications in electronic format to Prof. Swairjo.

Positions for Ph.D. or M.S. students The Swairjo lab has graduate research positions available for students interested in carrying out their thesis research in biochemistry or structural biology. Interested students should contact Prof. Swairjo via e-mail.

Positions for undergraduates The Swairjo group enthusiastically welcomes undergraduate students to train in research in the lab. Interested students must be currently taking or have completed a lecture course in general biochemistry (CHEM 560, CHEM 365 or equivalent). Undergraduate students working in the Swairjo lab are expected to commit at least 10 hours per week for research. SDSU Biochemistry majors seeking to take CHEM 497 or CHEM 498 research units are particularly encouraged to join us. Interested students should contact Prof. Swairjo via email.
